► Deep learning-based GPR inversion

GPR

Ground penetrating radar (GPR) techniques are widely used in planetary exploration, archaeological prospecting, geological hazard assessment, etc. We developed a GPR inversion operator to support real-time and reliable imaging of near-surface permittivity and resistivity structures simultaneously.

► Earthquake monitoring and prediction

Seismic electric signals (SES) are essential short-term precursors of earthquakes. We developed a Real-time Automatic Search Engine (RASE) for SES detection, thus realizing the potential of geoelectric field observation in earthquake monitoring and disaster prevention.

Machine Learning System

The ultralow-frequency (ULF) EM anomaly is also considered one of the earthquake precursory signals. We employed a multireference station data-quality-weighted method to detect the ULF anomaly. Statistical tests indicate that the ULF anomalies appearing approximately two months before the earthquake are likely driven by physical processes.
